Hi, I'm Rina. 👋
I'm a tenacious data analyst and digital media professional with degrees in journalism and information science from the University of Maryland. I like to analyze data, innovate, brainstorm and build things.
I'm currently a data reporter at Forbes collaborating to deliver the company's annual Top Colleges List.
Previously, I covered economics at The Wall Street Journal, developed graphics and reported at NPR and investigated public housing evictions with the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism. I also pioneered the data desk at The Diamondback, the university's independent student newspaper, where I became the first to hold a data editing position.
Earlier this year, I presented an analysis of sports recreational deserts at NICAR. I was also on a small team of three that was recognized in the Reynolds Journalism Institute Student Innovation Competition for developing a student wages guide.
I'm comfortable working with R, Python, SQL, HTML, and CSS and am always working on beefing up my familiarity with JavaScript and D3.
When I'm not writing or coding, I'm dribbling my basketball, dancing because nobody's watching or maintaining my Duolingo streak.
