Hi, I'm Rina. 👋
I'm an eager, young reporter and data scientist with degrees in journalism and information science from the University of Maryland. I've written about economics, climate change, sports and the coronavirus pandemic. I've analyzed data on public housing, college volleyball and law enforcement.
This past fall, I wrapped up my time at The Diamondback, the university's independent student newspaper, where I pioneered the paper's data desk. I'm the first to hold a data editing position at the publication.
I spent the past summer covering economics at The Wall Street Journal. I have also interned for NPR's news applications and digital news teams. I've contributed to USA Today, The Associated Press, the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism, The Allentown Morning Call and The Washington Times sports section.
I'm comfortable working with R, Python, SQL, HTML, CSS and am always working on beefing up my familiarity with JavaScript and D3.
When I'm not writing or coding, I'm dribbling my basketball, dancing because nobody's watching or maintaining my Duolingo streak.
